F - Ferring Societies Tapestries

	Ferring Amateur Dramatic Society (FADS) FADS was formed in April 1931 and will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2001 - it is one of the oldest dramatic societies in W. Sussex and has won several awards in the County, Arun, Brighton and Worthing drama festivals. 3 full-length plays are performed in Ferring Village Hall every year - the first one to be presented in the Millennium will be their 209th production. 	Ferring Conservation Group The Ferring Conservation Group was formed in 1988 to secure the conservation and preservation of the beauty and present character of the open spaces of Ferring, in close cooperation with the County, District and Parish Councils. There are no political and or religious activities and the group is non-profitmaking. At present there are around 1,400 members.
	Ferring Dance Club The Ferring Dance Club was founded twenty-four years ago. Members enjoy various forms of dancing - Old Time, Modern Sequence, Ballroom, Latin and Line Dancing. The tapestry square was designed and worked by Janet Wood.
	Ferring and District WI Market Established on 14th July 1976 in the Old Ferring School Hall, it provides an opportunity for the sale of home-made goods such as cakes, plants, flowers and crafts. The Market entered a float in the Jubilee Celebrations in 1977 which caused quite a stir! The Market moved to the Ferring Village Hall in 1980 and soon laid to rest the local traders' fears that their business would be affected - the Market producers shop locally and everyone is happy! The Market opens on Wednesday mornings from 10.00 to 11.00 a.m.
	Ferring Dolls' House Club. The group of Dolls' House enthusiasts formed in 1998 to extend their knowledge of making miniature, by helping one another in an informal atmosphere. The Club will host a Dolls' House exhibition in Ferring in aid of St. Barnabas Hospice, as part of the Village Millennium celebrations. The tapestry square was designed and worked by Phyl Teare.
	Ferring Downs Women's Institute The WI movement is based on the spiritual ideals of fellowship, truth, tolerance and justice. It encourages training and instruction in agricultural and domestic subjects. These include handicrafts, health and social welfare, citizenship, national and international questions and music and drama. It is self-governing, non-sectarian and non-party political. The tapestry square was designed by Barbara Marks and worked by Gwen Burgess.
	Ferring Flower Club Ferring Flower Club is a volunteer organization which works to promote a wide interest in flower arranging, gardening, horticultural knowledge and in related artistic and educational subjects. The designer: The square was copied from the NAFAS badge\logo and was worked by Mrs. Pamela Jennings.
	Ferring Friends of St. Barnabas Hospice One of a number of support groups in the villages surrounding Worthing where the Hospice is based. Our aim is to raise money for the Hospice which is supported by donations in the major part. The group is are working to finance a Children's Hospice, the Chestnut Tree Fund. 	Ferring Friendship Centre The Friendship Centrer was first suggested in the autumn of 1971 and the first lunch was served in January 1972. It is for those over 60 years of age who live alone and come to have an enjoyable lunch in a very friendly atmosphere. All the helpers are volunteers. Apart from our official title, we are sometimes called the Ferring Latin Club. These centres operate around the area and come under Churches Together in Worthing. The square was worked by Rita Webb.
	Ferring Funtime Club
	Ferring Rifers Youth Club Founded in 1969 as a purpose-built club after using the Village Hall for many years, there were 80 members. The Chairman, Vic Attree and Bill Wyatt, committee members on that original committee, are still on the current Rifers Committee. Mrs. Iris Mecham and Mr. Allan Mecham are the Youth Leaders and the management committee is drawn from the local community.
	Ferring School Ferring School's contribution to the Ferring 2000 Wall Hanging Project was designed and made by Mrs. Angelo Latham, the school's arts coordinator. It incorporates a school badge and very effectively illustrates the changes in uniform and resources for education over a period of time.
