Fibromyalgia Support Group for Surrey and Sussex

Hello Everyone, My name is Nichola. I am 44 years old and I suffer with Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome is a painful debilitating condition. There are hundreds of stories from sufferers all over the world and rising. We suffer from many problems associated with Fibromyalgia physically but mentally. There has been a lot of research to find out what causes this terrible condition and how to cure it. Sadly it is not curable.

Also, any age group can suffer from it. But there are still many people that have no idea what it is. I have been a member of our support group since our founder started it in 2003 in Horsham then we opened Worthing Local Support Group. Due to the credit crunch and lack of volunteers our precious support group had to close. Many have missed it and we need it back. We need support. I have spoken to some of the members about starting it up again.

UPDATE from Nichola Bond: May 2010

Hi, I am the organiser of the Fibromyalgia Syndrome Support group in Worthing and surrounding area, one of our members son ran the London Marathon on Sunday for our group, we are apart of the Sussex & Surry Fibro Charity Support group. Fibro is a debilitating condition wit no cure, as it is  syndrome we suffer with a number of health issues for example Thyroid problems, IBS, Sleep problems, exhaustion, migraines, forgetfulness, brain frog and close down. we suffer with a lot of pain in our muscles and the nerves are damaged. The messages from the nerves and muscles do not get to the right place in the brain.

We need ideas to let people know that there is a support group here, do you have any to suggest?
As we are a new group & are limited with funds. We are looking for companies to take us on as there charity. We are also looking for donations for various items for our raffle and auctions in the future.
If we can find a printing company willing to donate a lot of leaflets so the can go into local newspapers so we can reach as many house holds as possible.
Please contact me on 07796653477 or & email: youandme1@skky.com

Monthly Meetings in Ferring:
We have secured a place for us to have our monthly meetings. At Ferring Baptist Church, Greystoke Road, Ferring, West Sussex, BN12 5JL

Every 3rd Tuesday of each month beginning in January 2010, first meeting date will be Tuesday 19th January 2010.

We  are having a Xmas lunch on the 21st December if anyone is interested in coming please contact Debbie on 07590 993928. Please hurry as the place needs to have a pre-order.

The structure of the meeting will be different from the old one. We will have Fun and Laughter with News, Library, Competition, Mini Holistic Treatments available at each meeting & lots more for all to enjoy. We as an organisation have a Help Line in place for News, where to go for help, how to go about getting the right treatment, support benefit info, just for someone to listen to you.

Our founder has won many awards for her efforts and we have been a registered charity since 2005. We can't let all of her help and many  of her volunteers' help go to waste.

Every sufferer should know that there is help for them, they are not alone.
