The Henty Arms was constructed on the present site in 1830, well before the railway was built in 1846. It was then called The New Inn, and may have been developed from an ale house near the present site.
It was renamed The Henty Arms in 1936 for two reasons: because they wanted to establish the history of the village in the eyes of potential buyers of Ferring land for houses, and because the brewers at that time were Henty and Constable.
Watneys took over the pub in 1955 when they bought the brewery, and immediately sold the pub on to Friary Meux.
The building has attractive flint walls in the local style, but these have unfortunately been painted over.
